Who we are

QRWKY is operated by QRWKY, an Australian company. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988.

If you scan a QRWKY card

You never need an account and we don't set cookies on the page you see. We record that the card was opened, when, and the country the request came from. To count repeat visits we make a code from your connection details that changes every day and can't be traced back to you; we never store your IP address. If you tap Save Contact, we record that it was tapped.

If you use QRWKY for your business

We keep your email address (and your name, if you sign in with Google), the business details you enter (name, phone, email, website, address), the videos and files you upload, and records of changes to your cards. If you set a business PIN we store only a scrambled version of it, and we keep a record of each phone you trust with it. We use this to run your cards and your account, to email you about your account (sign-in codes, security alerts, your renewal date), and to keep the service safe. Uploaded videos are checked by a person before they are shown to the public.

Signing in with Google

If you choose Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We use your email only to identify your account and to contact you about it. We don't use Google information for advertising, sell it, or share it except with the service providers below. QRWKY's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Where your information is kept

Our database is in Sydney, Australia (Supabase). Videos are stored and played through Cloudflare Stream, and files through Cloudflare R2; these may be processed outside Australia. The website is hosted by Vercel and emails are sent by Resend, both of which may process data overseas, including in the United States and Japan. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to Australian law.

How long we keep it

Your cards are included for three years from first use, then optional renewal. If you don't renew, your cards pause and we keep your files for 12 months so you can restore them. We never delete anything without telling you first. You can ask us to delete your account and content at any time.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by contacting us. If you're not happy with our answer you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Children

QRWKY is a service for businesses and isn't directed at children.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for material changes, email account holders.
